La vie en Rose

I don't wanna be a singer.

and thank goodness i am not creative.

From the likes of Jim Morrison to Johnny Cash, Kurt Cobain.. total tornado attack.

Edith Piaf. Heck, i have never heard of her till the Oscar buzz about Marion Cotillard's performance in La vie en Rose. And so i went to see the movie anyway. oohh first things first..(hihi this post was too late already no? the Oscars was soo yesterday already:))(sorry i just got to see the movie yesterday hmmp.)

Although her Oscar dress was a thumbs down to the fashion police.. i liked it. It's mermaidy and it showed her svelte figure. It wasn't Lara Flynn Boyle-ish right? Plus she's so sweet on her speech with her french twang and her hair neatly curled-up to the side and her dress shining at the gala, she was Oscar-perfect. Not too made up and not too blah.

There, that's the end of my post. haha.

Should i post a review? am i credible? don't answer.

Marion's performance was hands down already. The singing voice though was lip-synched..at past 12midnight, lights are off, and watching a dead woman's biopic, i was both entertainted and pretty scared at the same time hooooo, spooky. what? what do you want me to say, i was scared really.

It's a grueling two and a half hours of following the subtitles and listening to songs..in french without understanding what its about, but it was worth it. Plus it was made with french taste and with french actors..am i going anywhere hahahaha. ehem seriously though Edith Piaf's life is sad. If it were a note, it's A flat. Don't ask again. hehe. I am half awake as of this writing so please bear with me. The saddest i think was the scene when she was asking Marcel, her lover, to fly back to the States, and the next morning she kisses him and leaves the room to get the Cartier watch for him..only to find out that his flight back crashed, and he really wasn't there, it's goose bumpy and tragic:( Marcel! Marcel!, i can still hear the echoes..

Another touching part was her stay with Titine when her father left her for the circus and her dying days as well.

Edith Piaf may not be the star Hollywood is looking for back then but her beautiful life is worth seeing and knowing. From her lonely childhood to her romance and dissapointments, life is in Pink after all.
