La vie en Rose

I don't wanna be a singer.

and thank goodness i am not creative.

From the likes of Jim Morrison to Johnny Cash, Kurt Cobain.. total tornado attack.

Edith Piaf. Heck, i have never heard of her till the Oscar buzz about Marion Cotillard's performance in La vie en Rose. And so i went to see the movie anyway. oohh first things first..(hihi this post was too late already no? the Oscars was soo yesterday already:))(sorry i just got to see the movie yesterday hmmp.)

Although her Oscar dress was a thumbs down to the fashion police.. i liked it. It's mermaidy and it showed her svelte figure. It wasn't Lara Flynn Boyle-ish right? Plus she's so sweet on her speech with her french twang and her hair neatly curled-up to the side and her dress shining at the gala, she was Oscar-perfect. Not too made up and not too blah.

There, that's the end of my post. haha.

Should i post a review? am i credible? don't answer.

Marion's performance was hands down already. The singing voice though was lip-synched..at past 12midnight, lights are off, and watching a dead woman's biopic, i was both entertainted and pretty scared at the same time hooooo, spooky. what? what do you want me to say, i was scared really.

It's a grueling two and a half hours of following the subtitles and listening to songs..in french without understanding what its about, but it was worth it. Plus it was made with french taste and with french actors..am i going anywhere hahahaha. ehem seriously though Edith Piaf's life is sad. If it were a note, it's A flat. Don't ask again. hehe. I am half awake as of this writing so please bear with me. The saddest i think was the scene when she was asking Marcel, her lover, to fly back to the States, and the next morning she kisses him and leaves the room to get the Cartier watch for him..only to find out that his flight back crashed, and he really wasn't there, it's goose bumpy and tragic:( Marcel! Marcel!, i can still hear the echoes..

Another touching part was her stay with Titine when her father left her for the circus and her dying days as well.

Edith Piaf may not be the star Hollywood is looking for back then but her beautiful life is worth seeing and knowing. From her lonely childhood to her romance and dissapointments, life is in Pink after all.

Vizco's at #5 Session Road

Watchagonna do?

If Sunday becomes Monday already and you can't feel the breeze? zzzz.

If your parents went to strawberry fields already and you're left with your kuya? zzzz.

Walk, bond and eat.

We're suppose to eat at Le Chalet, the al fresco restaurant across the street, but the server has left us waiting for like eternity already, tsk. We're eyeing the Swiss burger and pizza, but we're too inip already so watchagonnado? walk out that is hehe

How about Zola bar? kuya passed since the place is always crowded daw with call cennner(hihi) peeps (earth to JP??!! how about your sissy here?:))

the story ends at Vizco's. a humble resto/bakeshop beside Don Hen. Serves mostly italian greats from pizza to pasta. i had to pass nga lang with the carrot cake(summer eh!tsk)

kuya's breakfast

Pomodoro

i tasted the sauce and it's super yum. i liked the strong flavor of it. but he shooed me away coz i have my own pasta daw hehe

Garlic and Sun dried tomatoes

compared to the other, the sauce on this one's kinda bland, but i enjoyed munching the sun dried tomato :) hmm a hint of veggie might jump start my day eh?

Strawberry Shortcake

Heavenly.

the middle part is also filled with bits of strawberries. the sweetness complemented the sourness(?) of the berries.

if it weren't for the cake, i'll head home already. Baguio's not as exciting anymore. especially when you just went here last December lang..+++ with the Olsen twins pa, everything's different. maybe i'm just getting older. every year's an exciting trip for me, but as years goes by, it's the same old same old. the gates of the Mansion is not as big anymore. The blooms weren't as colorful as it was before. But the Raisin bread from John Hay's still the same..and i'm still afraid of horseback riding. the Sisters from the Good Shepherd still makes the creamiest Ube Jam, and i can still recall the park at night when i was young, my mom blowing the inihaw na mais to cool it before she lets me dig into it.

I don't know if you'll count it a day hehe. tiring trip. Bad idea. but my lazy Monday is not so lazy after all.. what's in store for my next lazy monday kaya?

BONDING WITH MAMITA!!!!

I had been on kitchen hiatus for so long already. so making strawberry salad with my mom's the best way to kick my ass:) i 'helped' her pulse, blend, switch on/off the blender. we made a lean mean strawberry salad, ala 5-star hooo.

Did you see the syrup ha, ha, ha? and the garnishing?:) HRM na HRM ah.

For orders.. please contact me at toot loko lang:)

3:10 to Oman

I miss my ate.

It’s probably around 6 in the morning in Oman right now..

She’s sound asleep.. with the Olsen twins beside her.

Knowing her, she gets up when everyone’s having their own coffee breaks already. Hehe. Hmm what do I miss the most? To start off….everything.

We’re the complete opposites. I still remember the things we fought about. Clothes, clothes and shoes:) and everything else.. Who gets to wear the new shirt, petty fights. She sooo hates me that when you read her journals I’m always there, ‘ I hate Jayde’ or ‘I hate my sister’. She heads to the nearest bookstore to buy Shakespeare, while I run to Marcella to buy earrings and clips:) She’s fair, me? Obviously not. She’s bright and I’m not…kinda (hey this is my blog). And that explains this one, she’s from UP and I’m from La Salle (animo La Salle). She’d be out in science quiz bees and I on the other hand a drama ‘declamation’ queen (*wink wink*) She’s preppy, I’m boho-chic..ahhh the comparison never stops:)

But it wasn’t everyday squabbles; we had soo many good times together as well. She’s the best ate ever! She’d always buy me stuff, I always get to borrow her things too:)she loves bringing pasalubongs as well! Back in UP, we’d have lunches together; she’d take me to the quaintest cafĂ© in town, taste the yummiest carrot cake, hiking at the mountains..(pause: am I crying already hehe). We love eating out, even just to share a pint of BTIC is bliss. Or fitting that perfect LBD. Watch Carrie. But I let her be when she goes to Powerbooks hehe.

I miss her snooty comments when I enter her room. She’d really tell me if I’m ugly that day, or what the hell was I thinking wearing that top. I swear I’ll put plaster in her mouth (including that crooked teeth hehe)!!!! Or Jayde, that’s stupid. Yes, we’re really sweet no?:)

But I love being with her, you don’t need to be madaldal at all, no awkward silences, no pretensions. She’s my handy dictionary, my fashion consultant, my personal shopper and my alalay hahaha. I must admit, it if weren’t for her, I’d be non-cultured:) from movie choices, to music, what’s cool and what’s not, almost all I guess, you know how it is when you’re young and you’re trying to copy the things that your ate does.(umm the kaartehan, just plain me:))

She’s the anti-everything. When everyone nods their heads, she’d have that frown in her face and will deliberately dissect every part that needs to be critiqued on. At the back of their heads, they’re asking how did Zoe and Sage become sooo nice?:))

I could go on and on, we all have our ate stories, the bad and the beautiful. Our own ates will forever be our icon, whether you like it or not (I go with the not:))

Nineteen more days and you’ll be turning 30 ate, I wish the wish you wish!

P.S

Don't be grumpy kuya, lagay din kita sa blog ko pag ngbday ka na hehe

P.S. ll

CHEAPO DEPOT whohoo
