woven intentions

:o a late thought, very late thought. was breezing through a previous issue of Preview mag o:

of all the collections from the Phillippine Fashion Week spring/summer '08, the one that got my attention the most was of Estien Quijano's. His concept was simple, clean and modern. I simply adore the way that he used the garter as his fabric and his key element for the show. The woven details really stood out in his all-black collection. It has that futuristic feel yet still touches the good ole Pinoy in you with his clever idea of the weave technique. I for one is a lover of everything Pinoy, as seen from this post (oct '07).

i'm forever proud of our local designers and our thriving industry.

P.S.

TOP TRES

if money were no object, wanna own pieces from these Pinay designers who made it big time internationally

top to bottom: a tina ocampo mother of pearl minaudiere ,a bea valdes necklace and a monique lhuillier gown

THAT'S ALL (in a Miranda Priestly tone:))

all boxed up

"anything from Cafe Mary Grace!"

the last sentence that i uttered before my brother left the house (in tagalog shempre :)). i've been hearing good raves from the said cafe, and gotta gotta taste some. i said to him, i want something different, pastry-like, but not the usual. few hours later, he came home with a box of Lemon squares from the TriNoma branch.

man! this box should have CAUTION: SOUR, SOUR, SOUR the lemon came on too strong at the start..never eat this with a cookie monster spirit!! after a while though, you'll get the hang of the sourness. plus points for the softness of the squares, it's not tarty at all. boy was i in for a big SUPPRISE (as Sage would say). note to self:small bites.

P.S.

thank you Ags for the yum oatmeal cookies that you made:)) and the yum cream puffs..and the yum food for the Gods.:)

if you understand Filipino: if you know that ipis=cochroach : and if you know that a ladybug is that red thingy and not a bat nor a bag:

well, this one's a bit corny, but if you come to my place, i'll tell you the story with gusto :))

the quest for the ladybug costume began 3 weeks before when ate phoned in from Oman asking for Sage's costume for Zoe's birthday party this 24th..since tis the season to be scary, i expect malls to be geared up on this event..fairies, mermaids, the devil..you name it, they should know it! especially the saleslady..as far as i can remember, i did say LADYBUG the way you should say LADYBUG

sa SM Sta. Rosa

Jayde: Miss, miss (preppy tone) meron ba kayong ladybug costumes?
Saleslady: ay dun po ang bag section hindi dito.
Jayde: hindi miss, yung ladybug, yung color red tapos may dots na black na costume.
Saleslady: ah, wala po kami nun

Okay. calm down. maybe i should say the word with more conviction. L-A-D-Y-B-U-G

two days later, sa SM Dasmarinas

main character: me again :))

Jayde: same spiel: miss, san yung ladybug costumes nyo?
Saleslady: dito, teka tingnan mo

yes! feeling giddy, finally i'd get to go home

Saleslady: eto po may bats kami dito
Jayde: miss hindi yan, yung parang ipis na red tapos may black dots
Saleslady: now laughing, ah wala po kami nun.

----------

my nieces settled for the fairy costumes anyway..as of this post, it's in the plane na :))

who wants to be a bug anyway? when you can be a pretty girly fairy with fairy dust and fairy wand and pixie wings!

I was kinda expecting a slice lang, but you were feeling generous at the time, so go sugar rush and go extra pounds! I had a cake-d weekend so to speak.

Got a pasalubong from the province of Quezon.a boxfull of Broas or ladyfingers, yey!

Old Manile

Siesta.

Simple joys. Coffee break. Pick-me-up.

Everyone won't say no to a break. Especially if you're working your butt off, and everything's just piling up. Although i am not a part of that "everyone', it's nice to seat back and have some 'me' time:)

A good way to seal the deal? Pan de Manila's Cheese Pesto Pandesal paired with their Cafe con Leche (their version of Spanish Style Coffee). I am not a fan of pesto in pastas but i sure like it in my pandesal! Hmmmm watch out for the not-so-good after breath hehe.

I've always liked the soft breads of Pan de Manila, from the usual pandesal, to their cheese, and now their version of cheese pesto. And the variety of spreads to choose from as well.. can't resist the delectable coco jam and garlic spread.

read the catchy phrase at the back of the label:)

"Damhin muli ang init at sarap ng nakaraan....

kape at pandesal ng Pan de Manila"

I agree.

02 October 2008

Oompa Loompa!

ugh. i've been one of those unlucky ones who experienced a tech prob last weekend. no thanks to blogger, grrr. i can't post ANYTHING! autosave failed. autosave failed. Went to Blogger Help and the solution was to clear my cookies and cache.

and voila, back to the Blogger world. Yey me!! (i didn't know how to delete cookies and cache in the first place haha) thanks to Google and some trials..and errors, i got my groove back! last weekend was good, no, that's not the word.. i had a full weekend..FULL, meaning i ate a lot, non-stop, i swear on my Chanel bag (wait, i don't have a Chanel bag, hah!) let's rewind shall we.

{Saturday} got a visit from my friends (former office pals sa INFONXX)

Anne, Jaimie and ME

we ate Spaghetti, Rowena's Apple crumble, Ice cream..and some more ice cream! (thanks sa ice cream GGs at thank you sa visit:)) i'll never be waif thin huhu.

{Sunday} my family and I went to Pampanga, got a party to attent to. and the tale of the carrot cupcake begins now..

carrot cupcake from Nathaniels (San Fernando Pampanga)

..this cupcake is soooo heavenly! (i ate three) every bite is filled with bits of walnuts, pecan, and of course a dose of carrot(i got my veggies for the day hehe) i wish i bought two boxes! i just realized it was delish when we're miles away from the place already, tsk. we also bought siomai, 3 boxes of 30s please. aaaanndd buco pandan! and thanks to Lola Andeng sa pasalubong, she gave us a box of brownies, lots of pulvoron, and LOTS of pastillas!

{Sunday} still.. if it were a BBQ eating contest..i'd be the champ! how many sticks? i lost count already, all i know is that i have a bulging tummy already! Quick fix : to lower the bloat feeling, i treated myself on a large serving of Kenny Rogers' Smoothie in Kiwi, truly refreshing hehe Marc Nelson was right on this one! it's now included in my list of 'at-the-moment' cravings.

oohh, how come i can hear GGs version of Glamorous? remember that last season..G-L-A-M-O-R-O-U-S.. that's because i found this fab Bossini scarf at Starmills for about $2.00, now how fab is that? perfect for that LBD number or jeans and a black tee..ready for my Glam shot!

fun weekend! and looooking forward to the next one!
